Off-Leash Dog Walks (Advisory)

This advisory message provides insight and guidance on what to keep in mind if you want to take your dog on an off-leash walk. Guide Annette McGivney finds that this is the way she and her dog Trudy can best connect with the nature around them - and that they can still be connected during this time without the tether of a leash. “It feels like synchronized swimming because we're both moving in unison and yet have our separate movements with an awareness of each other,” she says. Listen to this episode to learn how you, too, can do this with your dog.

Season 2 of the Dog Walk Meditation podcast is guided by award-winning journalist, book author, teacher, and meditator Annette McGivney. She has written several books and is best known for her book Pure Land, which won the National Outdoor Book Award in 2018. She currently serves as the Southwest Editor for Backpacker Magazine. Her daily walks off-leash with her dog are what she considers her primary contemplative practice, and truly healing for her everyday life.
